We would especially like to thank Paul Marsh and his team at Footloose 4x4 for all their help and expertise.

Useful Web Sites

We have found many useful web sites, whilst researching our trip. We have listed below some of the sites which we found particularly useful.

www.africa-overland.net

We have found this an excellent site, in particular for the information we have learned from the experience of other people who have made the trip before us and survived!
www.fco.gov.uk The Foreign and Commonwealth Office site offers travel advice for all the countries which we plan to visit, and gives advice based on the most accurate and up-to-date information available.  It will enable us to make informed decisions, both before and during our travels.
www.sahara-overland.com The web-site of Chris Scott's book of the same name.  Useful information if crossing the Sahara.
www.brownchurch.co.uk This company are Landover specialists, who sell a range of equipment for overland travel.  However, they also provide a lot of helpful information, particularly about recommended equipment.
www.overland.co.za This site contains pictures and details about routes and destinations, which are "spoilers" to the self-sufficient vehicle dependant adventure traveller.
www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/ A good source for on-line maps, which we used for this web-site and in planning our route.
www.lonelyplanet.com The web site for the books - excellent for reference
http://www.xe.com/ucc/full.shtml Universal currency converter
www.nomadtravel.co.uk Contains traveller check list and useful health information
www.bloodcare.org.uk Bloodcare Foundation - For a small annual or monthly fee guarantee the supply of screened blood products within 12 hours to anywhere in the world.
www.rac.co.uk RAC (Royal Automobile Club) the only organisation in the UK that will issue a carnet for the vehicle.
